7 Things to remember when getting your vehicle repaired:
1. You have the right to choose your repair facility. Your insurance company cannot require you to go to a particular repair facility.
2. There is no legal requirement that you obtain more than one estimate for you vehicle repairs.
3. Some insurance companies will ask you to visit their drive in claims center prior to having your car repaired. It is completely up to you whether you do that or not. You can leave your car at a repair facility and request the inspection there.
4. More than likely, there will be differences between repair shop estimates and insurance estimates. A lower estimate may be due to updated part prices, difference in parts used, or it may be missing necessary work. If you are unsure of the differences, please ask the shop estimator to explain them to you.
5. Use a repair shop with a warranty.
6. If your vehicle is unsafe to drive, do not drive it. If you are unsure, check with the repair facility.
